Dental Implants

Dental Implants Provide a Secure Base for an Array of Restorations

Losing teeth may not only cause us to feel self-conscious about our smiles, but can also cause oral health problems. Dental implants present a solution to missing teeth. Implants consist of small titanium screws, which are inserted in the jaw to replace tooth roots. A variety of restorations can be affixed to implants to replace missing teeth.

Dr. Rickerby performs both the placement and restoration of dental implantsat his Jersey City, NJ, office. An implant specialist, the doctor also performs all surgeries and procedures associated with dental implants, including bone grafting, All-on-4® dental implants, and traditional denture to implant-supported denture conversion.

Dental implants restore dental function, fortify the jawbone, and fill gaps in your smile, using beautiful, lifelike restorations.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Dental implants offer both functional and aesthetic benefits:

  • Implants improve oral health by drawing essential nutrients to the jawbone, preventing bone deterioration.
  • Preserving underlying bone structure prevents the collapse of facial features, such as sunken or hollowed cheeks and drooping lips.
  • Implant-supported restorations are permanent and non-removable, providing a stable foundation to prevent slipping. This allows patients to chew and speak with confidence.
  • Non-removable restorations are easier to care for than traditional dentures – you simply care for these restorations as you would care for your own teeth.
  • Dr. Rickerby will carefully design your final restoration using material in a shade that complements your facial features.
  • With a natural and comfortable restoration, you may notice improved self-confidence and find yourself smiling more often.

Implant-related Treatments & Procedures

BONE GRAFTING

Bone grafting may be necessary for some patients to become eligible for dental implants, as implants require a sufficient amount of jaw tissue. Patients who lack substantial jawbone tissue may need to undergo a bone grafting procedure to fortify the jaw and restore their candidacy.

DENTAL CROWNS

In the case of a severely infected or decayed tooth, it may be necessary to extract the tooth and replace it with a dental crown. Once the gums have healed following extraction, a single dental implant can replace the missing tooth. A custom dental crown will then be affixed to the implant. By replacing the tooth with a dental implant as soon as possible, bone loss is prevented.

Dental implants not only address oral health concerns, they also restore smiles for a transformed appearance and a renewed quality of life.

IMPLANT-SUPPORTED DENTURES AND BRIDGES

For patients missing multiple teeth, an implant-supported denture or bridge may be appropriate. In some cases, dentures can be supported with just four implants, known as All-on-4® or same-day teeth. An entire row of missing teeth may be replaced with just four to six implants. These implants can then support a bridge or full denture.
